Frankish warriors once used axes like this to hurl at Roman legionaries, splitting their shields and breaking their formations. This version has a heavy single edge shaped to resemble an ordinary splitting axe, mounted on a curved, wood-grain-textured handle built for a better throwing grip. Durable closed-cell foam finished in strong latex gives it both the safety and the convincing look your kit needs.

History

Frankish tribesmen wielded these against the Roman legions

Their heavy heads could split a legionary's shield and break the enemy line when thrown

The earliest hafted axes date to around 6,000 B.C., their blades lashed to the handle with birch tar and raw hide

Disclaimer: Our LARP products are for recreational use only.
