Roman Belt
Modeled on the military belt worn by high-ranking Roman soldiers, Epic Armoury's Roman Belt hangs five full-grain leather plates with metal fittings across the front -- more a display of rank than real protection for the groin, historically speaking.
Heavy canvas rimmed in soft leather resists tearing and holds its shape, giving your Roman-inspired costume a durable foundation. A sturdy cotton cord ties at the back, letting the belt adjust across a wide range of body sizes.
History
- Known as the cingulum militare, or military belt, worn by Roman soldiers as a badge of rank
- Belts appear in men's clothing as far back as the Bronze Age, roughly 3200-600 B.C.
