Milanese Pauldrons - Light Kit
The Milanese Pauldrons (Light Kit) provide essential shoulder defense with a focus on agility and historical aesthetics. High-density polyurea gives these pauldrons the polished appearance of traditional steel armour while staying significantly lighter and more flexible, suited to a knightly silhouette without the burden of heavy, maintenance-intensive metal plates.
Overlapping plates provide excellent range of motion for the shoulders and upper arms. True to the asymmetrical character of the original steel version, the left pauldron includes a vertical plate specifically shaped to protect the head from glancing blows, while beveled edges across the surface help deflect incoming attacks. A functional chain pin allows for attaching an insignia or heraldry.
These pauldrons are easy to integrate — tie the canvas ties to a cuirass or gambeson, and use the leather straps to cinch the armour snugly around the upper arms. Being made from durable polyurea, they're rust-proof, dent-resistant, and need zero specialized armour care, staying in pristine condition season after season.

Fit, adjustment & care
Most of the fit comes from the strap system itself, but for an even closer fit, you can gently reshape the material with heat — apply it to the inside of the piece rather than the painted exterior so the material softens without harming the finish.
- Finish: The base material beneath the painted surface is black, so scratches and general wear may eventually reveal this black layer underneath.
- Easy touch-ups: Minor scuffs or scratches are simple to fix at home with a primer and acrylic hobby paints (such as Army Painter or Citadel).
- Leather care: Treat the leather straps like any other full-grain leather product, conditioning them occasionally to keep them supple and long-lasting.
- A living finish: Wear and patina are a natural part of your armour's lifecycle, adding to its authentic, battle-worn character over time.
