Rugged Tanto - 21.7 in
Drawing on the weapons of feudal Japan, Epic Armoury's Rugged Tanto is a 21.7 in LARP dagger with a straight, single-edged 14.6 in blade shaped to slash or pierce with precision. It's designed as a backup weapon in close quarters, meant to be paired with a katana or wakizashi.
Each Rugged Tanto is built from soft EVA foam coated in a thick layer of protective latex, then hand-painted to resemble steel and textured brass - without any of the danger of a real sharpened blade. A rectangular crossguard protects the 5.9 in ergonomic grip, which is wrapped in a leather cord that continues up onto the blade to form a short ricasso. The pommel is sculpted as a flexible ring, handy for attaching small trophies or ribbon in your house colors.
Safety runs deep in the construction too: a solid fiberglass rod core is paired with a flexible Kevlar tip to guard against punctures. Because of its latex finish, this Rugged Tanto does require some maintenance to keep it performing at its best.
