Seax - 20.1 in
Epic Armoury's Seax is a thoroughly utilitarian knife, built around a flat, single-edged 15 in blade that ends in a very sharp tip. There's no cross-guard here, just a fine coreless pommel and a form-fitting grip reminiscent of a modern kitchen knife. That relatively simple design makes the Seax a natural secondary weapon for all kinds of LARP characters - effective without drawing much attention to itself. Fittingly, "seax" is the old English word for knife. Built from durable closed cell foam around a fiberglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, delivering the safety and appeal you want.
History
This design draws heavily on Anglo-Saxon knife and weapon styles, backed by archaeological finds. "Seax" was actually a catch-all term for knives from the early Middle Ages, covering both tools and weapons. Double-bladed versions were typical, though single-bladed designs existed too, and it was often those single-edged blades that ended up carrying the Seax name.
