Epic Armoury's Battle Scythe takes its cue from war and military scythes, standing 74.8 in tall with a curved, single-edged 17.7 in blade mounted on a long, wood-textured staff, hand-sculpted and painted for a weapon suited to mercenaries, revolutionaries, or the occasional dangerous farmer. Small touches like the grommets fixing blade to staff add to the realism.
A fiberglass core inside durable closed-cell foam, finished in a strong latex coating, keeps the weapon safe to swing and convincing to look at.
History
- A standard scythe was a farming tool, but its curved blade could be repurposed onto a staff as a weapon
- War scythes were built specifically to defend against cavalry charges
- They became a common sight in peasant uprisings
