Battleworn Falcata
Standing 33.5 in overall, Epic Armoury's Battleworn Falcata is a single-edged foam sword modeled on the curved blades once carried by Iberian mercenaries. Its 26 in blade combines the chopping power of an axe with the reach of a thrusting sword, so it copes equally well with heavy blows and quick jabs. Every Falcata is hand-sculpted and hand-painted to mimic aged steel, weathered wood, and tarnished gold trim - and, true to the rest of our Battleworn range, extra scuffs and battle damage have been worked into the finish so the sword looks like it's already seen a few campaigns. A 3.9 in hooked grip at the base echoes the traditional falcata's distinctive handle shape.
Underneath the paintwork, the blade is built from closed-cell foam wrapped around an 0.31 in fiberglass core and sealed with a tough latex skin, while the low-maintenance polyurethane grip is designed to hold up season after season on the battlefield.
Because the falcata was a signature weapon of Celtic mercenaries from south-western Europe, it works well for savage, barbarian-styled characters - and its kinship with curved Greek and Egyptian blades also makes it a fitting choice for exiled soldiers reinventing themselves as wandering adventurers.
