Splint Bracers
Epic Armoury's Splint Bracers pair leather and metal to guard the arm and elbow. A 0.04 in thick steel couter, forged and shaped with an attached fan plate, covers the entire elbow including the sides, while leather vambrace and rerebrace pieces carry a row of metal strips on the inside. Together these three overlapping parts stay comfortable and flexible enough for real mobility in combat.
Scalloped leather edging and black studded, lined suede add fine detail, and four black leather straps hold each piece in place, with brass eyelets and canvas cords attaching the forearm and upper arm guards. Worn alone or with our matching Splint Shoulders and Poleyns, these bracers add some class to your costume.
- Available in Emperor Red, Epic Black and Ranger Green colors
History
Plate armor saw rising popularity as firearms became more common during the 13th century, and the term "vambrace" itself dates to the early 14th century. Leather vambraces were sometimes reinforced with strips of metal or hardened leather to create splint armor, the same construction used here.
