Sun Hammer
At 53.1 in, Epic Armoury's Sun Hammer is a latex hammer engineered for safer, easier combat handling. Its asymmetrical 15.4 in head pairs a flat 7.9 in wide face with a spike on the opposite end, and a hollow build keeps it lighter and safer than a solid foam alternative. Sculpted and hand-painted to resemble dwarven forged metal, the head sits on a matching haft with a 19.3 in black suede leather grip.
The haft is durable closed cell foam over a fiberglass core, finished with a strong latex coating, while the head is flexible latex over an interior foam rod that keeps its shape and stays attached to the haft. With regular latex maintenance, this LARP weapon will keep its safety and epic aesthetic appeal for years.
History
- A late medieval weapon designed to damage armored opponents without penetrating through plate
- Long hammers were typically designed to fight against mounted troops, whereas shorter ones were used in close quarters
- Long hammers were also used to attack horse's legs during combat
