Persian Helmet
For complete head coverage, look to Epic Armoury's Persian Helmet. Modeled on ancient Asian armor, it is built from 0.04 in thick mild steel with a tall, bowl-shaped head and a pointed crest capped by a decorative plate. A nasal guard reaches up over the forehead, defending the face without cutting into visibility, and lends the helmet a striking battlefield silhouette. Loosen the front bolt to remove it.
A full chainmail aventail guards both the neck and face, hooking directly onto the helmet and around a sturdy metal band that shapes the two wide eye holes. The chainmail is lined with leather at the eyes and front for comfort and to hold the links steady.
A chin strap tightens to keep the Persian Helmet securely in place. An Off-White Persian Headband ships with the helmet, strapping around its crown and anchoring at the back via four metal holes.
A leather fitting and loose foam band come included for internal adjustment.
- Available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark colors, sizes S/M and L/XL
Inspired by the Khula Khud
An aventail — a chainmail veil attached to the helmet for extra protection — had largely replaced the older chainmail hood coif by the 14th century. Khula Khuds, a helmet style from ancient western Asia, made use of exactly this kind of aventail, and the design bears a strong resemblance to the conical Turban Helmet later worn in the Ottoman Empire.
