Kettle Hat
Epic Armoury's Kettle Hat is a steel helmet inspired by Middle Ages infantry armor. Its broad, sloped brim protects the head and face from weapons, projectiles, and the sun. Pair it with a metal coif for additional neck and cheek protection.
Tighten the leather strap beneath the chin to secure the Kettle Hat in place. Built from 0.04 in thick mild steel with full-grain leather straps and fittings, this armor piece is designed to hold up to LARP or reenactment use with regular leather and metal care.
- Sized M and L, with a leather fitting and loose foam band for internal adjustment
History
Steel-built kettle hats saw widespread use among Medieval European infantry, known in other languages as the Eisenhut or chapeau de fer — names that reference its resemblance to a cooking pot. Its broad brim had the added perk of shading the eyes from the sun.
