Viking Mask Helmet
Epic Armoury's Viking Mask Helmet is a skull-cap style helm inspired by the Vikings of the 10th century. A "spectacle" guard over the eyes offers strong facial protection while keeping the wearer's vision clear. Rivets, a combed apex, and a steel rim band reinforce the whole helmet, ready to stand up against the Roman Empire and its inferior states.
A chin strap tightens to hold the Viking Mask Helmet in place. Built from 0.04 in thick mild steel with leather straps and fittings, this piece is made to withstand LARP or reenactment abuse with regular leather and metal armor care.
- Sized M and L, with a leather fitting and loose foam band included for internal adjustment
History
This design is modeled on the only complete Viking helmet ever found, unearthed in central Norway and dated to the 10th century. Original examples were forged from iron, and the style likely developed as a variation on the spangenhelm.
