Enclosed Arm Protection - Polished Steel
This pair of vambraces from Epic Armoury covers the entire forearm in comfortable leather-backed steel, with flexible elbow couters rounding out the protection anyone needs on a chaotic battlefield. Rolled edges and small ridges at the rim add further elbow coverage, cutting down the odds of a lucky hit landing.
Two leather straps secure each piece in place, and the construction -- 0.04 in mild steel paired with full grain leather straps and fittings -- stands up to repeated LARP or reenactment use as long as you keep up with leather and metal care.
History
- This type of forearm protection is historically known as a vambrace or forearm guard
- Plate armor saw a rise in popularity as firearm technology spread during the 13th century
