Char-a'ina
Originating in Persia, present-day Iran, the Char-a'ina Epic Dark from Epic Armoury is a historically grounded, low-fantasy piece guarding the front and back of the torso and abdomen. Four plates, one each for the front, back, and sides, are joined by full grain leather straps that crisscross the back and can be tightened or loosened at the flanks.
The broad, unadorned surfaces are ideal if you'd like to add a personal engraving, a habit that echoes how these plates were often customized historically during their heyday. Historically, Char-a'ina armor was typically worn together with chainmail or a chain shirt.
Made of 0.04 in thick mild steel with full grain leather straps and fittings, this piece is built to withstand LARP or reenactment combat with regular leather and metal care.
- Available in Epic Dark and Polished Steel colors
- Available in sizes S/M, L/XL and 2XL/3XL
History
- The name "Char-a'ina" translates to "four mirror," referring to the four plates that make up this armor type
- Surviving historical examples tend to be noblemen's armor, richly detailed and engraved with scenes from their owners' lives
- Our version blends several historical designs together rather than copying one exactly, aiming for a more general look
