Persian Greaves
Epic Armoury's Persian Greaves are a set of steel leg protection built to guard the shins and calves. Formed to the shin and connected by chainmail, they sit comfortably over the shin while leaving room for poleyns to cover the kneecaps. Reaching from below the knee down to a narrower fit at the ankles, they secure with two adjustable top-grain leather straps, while chainmail and a back plate extend coverage further across the calves.
The Persian Greaves are designed to match Epic Armoury's Roman collection, though they mix and match easily to suit your character's unique costume. Made of 0.04 in thick mild steel with top-grain leather straps and fittings, this piece is built to withstand LARP or reenactment abuse with regular leather and metal armor care.
- Available in Polished Steel and Epic Dark colors, One Size
History
As firearms grew more common through the 13th century, plate armor became more popular, often paired with chainmail for a cheaper and more mobile combination. Chainmail itself is one of the oldest armor types in the world, dating to the 4th century B.C. and widely worn by Roman and early medieval infantry and knights.
