Viking Spangenhelm
Epic Armoury's Viking Spangenhelm is a skull-cap style helm modeled on those of the early medieval Vikings. A cotton inlay, reinforced cap, 3.9 in nose plate, and chainmail aventail combine for strong protection while staying lighter and more comfortable than a full helm. The aventail hanging from the back guards the ears and neck while still allowing easy head movement from side to side.
A chin strap tightens to hold the Viking Spangenhelm in place. Built from 0.04 in thick mild steel with leather straps and fittings, this piece is made to withstand LARP or reenactment abuse with regular leather and metal armor care.

History
This helmet style remained in use from the fall of the Roman Empire well into the medieval era, favored in particular by the Franks, Goths, and the Byzantine Empire.
