Boarding Axe 24.4 in
Epic Armoury's Boarding Axe is a heavy, 24.4 in weapon built for sailors and swashbucklers. Its 5.9 in axe blade and spike work equally well for taking down an enemy or chopping through a door while commandeering a ship. The short, hooked axe head is hand-painted to look like real metal, though it's actually soft foam, and attaches to a handle designed to look like weathered wood.
Built from durable closed cell foam around a solid 0.4 in fiberglass core and finished with a strong latex coating, this LARP axe delivers the safety and appeal you want in your kit.
History
The hafted axe dates back roughly 8,000 years, to around 6,000 B.C., when birch tar and rawhide lashings first fixed blade to handle. Battle axes generally did double duty as tools and cost less to produce than swords. This boarding-axe style was built heavy on purpose, meant to hack through grappling lines during the 17th and 18th centuries.
