Yari - 74.8 in
Modeled on the polearm that anchored feudal Japan's infantry, this Epic Armoury Yari measures an impressive 78.7 in overall. Hand-sculpted and painted, it carries a long, double-edged 21.7 in spearhead joined to a black-lacquered, gold-trimmed pole — styled after Asian design — by a short golden ricasso.
As with the rest of the range, a fiberglass core wrapped in closed-cell foam and finished with a strong latex coating keeps this weapon both safe and visually striking.
History
- Some form of spear has served hunters for at least 400,000 years
- Spears dominated as the standard Stone Age weapon and stayed relevant until firearms arrived
- The yari is regarded as a traditional Japanese weapon, valued for being relatively simple to use and produce
- Sojutsu is the name given to the martial art of fighting with a yari
