Ironshod Shield - Wood - 23.6 in
Epic Armoury's Ironshod Shield is a round latex shield drawing on the look of early, pre-10th century Vikings and Saxons. A wood-textured surface finished with wood and iron paint gives it a look that's sure to impress on the battlefield. Its punch-grip is comfortable and reliable, and the hard EVA foam and latex build is designed to take the punishment of ongoing LARP combat as long as you keep up with regular latex maintenance. Let the Ironshod Shield become part of your fighting style as you defend against your enemies.
History
- Round wooden style was predominantly used in the early European Middle Ages using light, non-splintering wood such as linden, fir, alder or poplar
- Iron rim was sometimes used as a way to reinforce the shield
- Used the "Shield Boss" the round, convex piece of material at the center of the shield to deflect blows
