Drang Shield
Epic Armoury's Wood Drang Shield is a 27.6 in round latex shield built with coastal raiding in mind. Drawing on early Viking and Saxon designs, this LARP-safe shield mimics the real thing without putting your fellow players at risk. A hand-painted, textured surface gives it the look of wooden slats built around an iron boss.
Pair it with a Viking Axe for a striking battlefield look. Its slightly convex shape and iron boss provide a real combat edge, while the reinforced punch-grip — wrapped in brown chrome-tanned suede — sits comfortably in hand. Regular latex maintenance will keep it in fighting shape.
- Available in Red & Wood, Green & Wood and Wood colors
- Available in sizes S, M and L
History
- Drang is the German word for 'urge,' making this shield as eager for battle as your character!
- The Shield Boss, the round, convex piece of material at the center of the shield was used to deflect blows
- Round wooden style was predominantly used in the early European Middle Ages using light, non-splintering wood such as linden, fir, alder or poplar
