Long Bow
Epic Armoury's Long Bow is a dependable, sturdy LARP weapon in the mold of the legendary bow carried by Robin Hood and the English archers of old. Where a recurve bow trades off for speed and power, a longbow sends arrows straighter and farther — reach for this one whenever the fight calls for striking from a distance.
Built from wood and fiberglass, it has an authentic medieval look and works equally well for right- and left-handed fighters. It draws inspiration from the traditional English yew longbow, evoking the era when skilled yeomen turned the tide of battles for their king.
A light wood finish gives this bow its appealing look, set off by black fiberglass tips, while a laced leather-style wrap forms the grip. Whether you're aiming for the bullseye or taking down a foe at range, this fiberglass-and-wood longbow earns its place in any LARP fighter's kit.
Draw weight measures approximately 27 lb / 28.7 lb / 448 oz with a 28" shaft, and Dacron string is included. Because this bow is made from natural materials, expect slight variation in appearance from what's shown, and draw weight can vary up to 3 pounds above or below the listed figure.
History
- Yew is a type of tree and is typically regarded as the best type of wood for making longbows
- The archers from the King's own household were termed the Yeomen of the Crown. They were specially trained and rightly considered the elite even among the experienced archers
